This one’s a bit different, a piece of me I’d like to share that I think sums me up quite well as a designer and person.
Fish Sauce is a zine sharing a collection of candid stories and images from asian immigrants their children from western countries across the world. Growing up in Australia with a Vietnamese background, I struggled with accepting my culture as a part of my identity. One of the things that helped me find confidence and learn more about my heritage was food! A big part of my ethnic identity evolves around food. I love the conversations that happen around food, so naturally, I designed a collection of these stories and experiences that have been shared with me by my community. The zine provides an open opportunity to talk about our own cultural heritage, and what food means to us too.
